Villa calliope
Situated in picturesque Ioulida, the modern day capital of Kea and a key place in Kea’s history.
Ioulida, know as “Chora”, the main village of the island is located 5,5 km away from the port of Korrisia and is beautifully set, amphitheatre-like around the slopes of three hills. It is a magical, serene place with traditional stone Cycladic houses which are joined together with covered wooden archways. Flat stone stepped paths lead you around the narrow alleys where you will encounter small churches and shops.
Villa Calliope is ideally located in Mesada, in a quiet alley, in the centre of Ioulida. It is only a couple of minutes away to the ‘Plateia’, the historical central square of the village where you can find tavernas, traditional cafés for Greek coffee or special pastries, and mini markets/tourist shops.
Buses and taxis can be found just outside the port. It is advised to pre-book taxis. Buses frequent the major settlements on the island – you can also rent a car from the port.
Ioulida is easily reached by all means of transport. However, like most Cycladic islands, cars are restricted in the center – municipal free car parks are provided on the periphery. You will also find the bus terminus and taxi stand near the car park.
